Joy That Doesn’t Run Dry – Finding the Fullness of Christ’s Joy

📖 Scripture
John 15:11
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
💬 Devotional
There is a kind of joy that comes and goes—like the thrill of good news or the sweetness of a perfect day. But Jesus speaks of something far deeper. He offers His joy—unshakable, soul-deep, enduring joy—and He says it can live in us.
Maybe today you’re laughing easily, your heart full. Or maybe your smile feels worn out and your laughter forced. Either way, the joy Jesus gives doesn’t rely on the mood of the moment. It is rooted in His love, His nearness, and His unchanging presence.
Joy is not the absence of struggle, but the presence of Christ within the struggle. It bubbles up like a spring even when life feels dry. It sings in the background of our hardest days, reminding us that hope has not been lost.
This joy cannot be manufactured or maintained by our own strength. It’s a gift. A fruit of abiding. Jesus says, “Remain in my love… so that my joy may be in you.” We don’t have to chase it—we rest in Him, and He fills us up.
So take heart, friend. God’s joy is not far off. It’s already within you, planted by grace, waiting to blossom again—even now.
🧠 Theology for the Weary
In John 15, Jesus speaks these words just before His journey to the cross. Even in the shadow of suffering, He talks about joy—not fleeting happiness, but His divine joy. This joy flows from communion with the Father and is extended to us through our union with Christ. It’s not earned. It’s shared. And because it is His joy, it cannot be taken from us.
